Episode 3 – Unpopular Opinion

After class, Abby rushed up as usual. Chet felt a surge of frustration? Other kids wanted to talk, but they backed off when she barged ahead.

“You have a golf match today, right?”

Chet nodded. He’d played golf since he was five…made varsity right away. At 4:00, they faced a tough match with arch rival Grove High.

She studied him expectantly. “I’ll be over at 6:30, okay?”

“Fine.”

“You okay?”

Chet’s mind was drifting to the upcoming match…and raising the sex question later. “Uh…yeah. Super.”

She laughed. “You’re already thinking about the match.”

“Yup.”

“You got your clubs?”

It was the kind of question that really pissed him off. Like he’d forget his clubs??? Did she think he was a numb nuts without constant reminders? Out of the corner of his eye, he saw two hot girls, Dawn and Julie, waiting to talk…shooting glances at Abby. He nodded and they rolled their eyes as if saying: “she’s s-o-o-o bor-r-ring.”

Abby noticed. “Ignore them. They’re mean.” He didn’t agree, but kept quiet.

“I better get going,” he said rushing to the locker room. It was a relief to escape. He grabbed his clubs and jumped in the van.

It was a warm, still day…perfect for golf. On the way to the course, some of the guys started bragging about sex. Chet felt stupid…didn’t know zip, and Charlie Thomas started talking about licking pussy. “You experienced that Nichols?” He asked with a laugh. Chet shook his head.

“Dude, you gotta ditch that little troll,” Charlie said. “She’s a pussy blocker.”

“We’re friends since kindergarten.”

“So what? She’s not doing you any good. Branch out.”

Chet felt like he should defend Abby, but let it go…stared down at his shoes. No sense antagonizing the older guys, but Charlie wouldn’t let up. “Seriously, Nichols, I’d take a hard look at that relationship. It’ll go nowhere…and dude, you’re built for love. Right guys?”

“Shut up, Charlie,” somebody said. “You’re a sick motherfucker.”

Chet shrugged. “Whatever…no big deal.”

Charlie laughed. “It will be when your dick shrinks up.”

Everybody howled.

“All right…enough,” Vin Myles, the team captain, said. “Don’t bother him. We need Chet to be sharp.”

“I’m just giving brotherly advice,” Charlie said. “Nichols is ready for the big leagues.”
